A Mountain Crown

Lenticular clouds are stunning as all get-out. They spin around an unseen spool and form disks, halos and the occasional UFO. The conditions around Mt. Shasta make it an ideal place for them to occur.

Living on the West Coast means that you get mountains on demand. Just pick your peak. I wanted to capture the snow still on Shasta before the summer came, and I was pleasantly surprised by this lovely mountain crown.

This is also the first time in 15 years that I have used my old Nikkormat, the film camera that I originally learned on. I forgot how much I missed the intentionality of film and the mechanics of the camera. I will be using it a lot more often alongside my d810. This wind-swept day with my camera and RAV4 was just what I needed. I am so grateful for all that I have, including the small bits of time I get to enjoy this amazing landscape.
